In the July 2012 issue of her monthly newsletter “Total Wellness”, while discussing the current avalanche of complaints and lawsuits about failing artificial joints, Dr. Sherry Rogers, MD, noted Environmental Doctor, commented on the use of Lumen Photon Therapy to help heal damaged joints both before and after joint replacement / implantation.
Dr. Rogers is concerned that many folks who are told they need joint replacements could clear their joint pain with natural holistic protocols (as noted in her book “Pain Free In 6 Weeks”) rather than with invasive drugs and surgeries.
Dr. Rogers notes that regardless of whether a person decides to get a joint replacement or not, it’s still in their best interest to identify and repair nutrient imbalances that caused the original medical issue.
Whether or not a person opts to replace a joint, it’s important to repair and strengthen bones and ligaments because, ironically, even replacement joints must be attached to strong healthy ligaments in much the same way that the natural joint is attached.
With her holistic approach, the potential recipient wins either way – if the issue is resolved (perhaps invasive surgery becomes unnecessary), OR if a decision is made to have the replacement joint inserted.
Even for those who have already HAD an implant, Dr. Rogers recommends testing for proper levels of supplements and minerals, monitoring Bone Resorption test, and using Lumen Photon Therapy.

With or without joint implants, she further advises attention to detox protocols AND use of the Lumen Photon Therapy Device to help ensure healing to the joint and surrounding tissue, especially those already “damaged by a prosthesis”.
For more information, Dr. Rogers referred to another article she wrote in her Total Wellness newsletter (October 2011). (Click here to read that article.)
Dr. Rogers feels strongly that many people are erroneously advised to replace joints because they are “bone on bone”. She notes that “implants are no better” because ball and socket implants are also metal-on-metal with no ball bearings or grease fittings.
Dr. Rogers agrees with concerns expressed by currently surfacing studies regarding premature failure of “modern” joint replacements – artificial joints prematurely failing prior to the 15-year expectancy told to most joint replacement recipients.
She quoted a New York Times article: “Those implants, which have a ball and cup made of metal, are expected to fail prematurely in tens of thousands of patients rather than lasting 15 years or more as artificial joints are supposed to do”.
Dr. Rogers additionally quotes a study which found that “not a single new artificial hip or knee introduced in a recent 5-year period, implants that included the all-metal hips, performed better in terms of durability than older devices and 30% of them were worse”.
Dr. Rogers also points out the vicious cycle resulting from phthalate methylacrylate glues used to hold the implants in place which, by the way, as she mentioned, don’t match the lifespan of metals.
She explains that those glues leach toxins into the blood stream, further adding to phthalate load, “which damages a multitude of biochemical pathways”, many of which are needed to make strong bones!
Another serious concern voiced by Dr. Rogers — some 50,000 U.S. patients may have to undergo premature surgeries in the next decade simply because many surgeons failed to clean toxic hydrocarbon residues (toxic industrial oils resulting from the manufacturing process) from the joint replacements prior to implantation.
Dr. Rogers also mentions that implanted metals from joint replacements as well as the ensuing scar tissue interfere with and disrupt normal electrical flow in the body and can indicate in seemingly non-related health issues. As Dr. Rogers states: A healthy electrical field is needed in our body for “continual growth and repair”.
In summation:
If you have a joint problem, if you are considering joint replacement, or if you have HAD joint replacement, Dr. Rogers advises to:
- Test And Repair Nutrient Imbalances
- Detox Overall Toxic Load
- Heal Joint Area (Pre Or Post Surgery) With Lumen Photon Therapy
